is seeking a
Cultural Resources Assistant Project Manager
possessing cultural resources management experience and specialization in California Archaeology to join our team working on Utilities, Renewable Energy, Community Development, and other market sector projects. The role entails assisting senior project managers on large complex projects and leading on small to mid-sized projects. Duties include executing tasks and completing project deliverables, leading and participating in fieldwork, people management, and client coordination. While this role may offer flexible work arrangements including a mix of in-office and remote work, our changing business needs will determine remote-work flexibility. We prioritize hiring individuals who reside within 50 miles of a Rincon office to promote in-person collaboration and client teaming. Current offices include Carlsbad, Fresno, Los Angeles, Monterey, Oakland, Palm Springs, Riverside, Sacramento, San Luis Obispo, San Diego, San Jose, Santa Barbara, and Ventura. The ideal candidate will be based in Sacramento, though other Northern California office locations may be considered. This is a minimum 40-hour per week position and some periods may require 40+ hours per week based on project needs. Responsibilities
Facilitate successful project completion of multiple projects with varied regulatory requirements including Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and National Environmental Policy Act. Manage projects, client expectations, schedules, and budgets. Prepare high-quality reports, contribute to environmental document sections, correspondences, and other written work products. Lead field projects including surveys, testing, and data recovery projects, and, in coordination with Principals/Directors, provide technical oversight of methods and data collection. Oversee and complete work products and fieldwork in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring quality of work products. Coordinate and lead project meetings. Coordinate with Directors/Principals in client, agency, stakeholder community including local Native American groups, Rincon peers, subcontractors, and vendors. Work in multidisciplinary teams for successful project execution including planners, biologists, paleontologists, and others. Contribute to project proposals, including development of costs and schedules. Participate in Rincon’s mentorship program including mentoring junior staff and engaging in peer-to-peer mentorship with senior mentors. Other duties as required by cultural resources Principals/Directors and others. Qualifications
Meet or exceed the qualifications detailed in 36 CFR part 61 for Archaeology. Minimum of 4+ years of progressive and successful environmental consulting experience in the above-mentioned technical and project management areas. Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA) certification preferred. Expertise in historic and prehistoric archaeology. Fundamental understanding of CEQA and NEPA as they relate to cultural resources and related fields, and Section 106 of the NHPA. Strong technical writing, field methods, and problem-solving skills. Strong work ethic, demonstrated leadership ability, effective communication skills, and ability to manage multiple projects and staff. Prior experience working in California on Renewables and desert region projects preferred. Desired:
Osteology and/or faunal analysis experience. Geoarchaeological assessment experience. Experience/working relationships with local Native American groups. Experience with large-scale utility programs. Experience coordinating/interacting with environmental planners and other non-cultural resources experts. Fundamental knowledge of historic built environment resources.
