Overview As a Pharmacy Manager, you will lead and develop a pharmacy team that provides exceptional patient care by promoting best practices and leading through change while identifying and addressing performance opportunities. You will support program awareness, onboard newly hired pharmacy team members, and recognize colleagues for their success. The Pharmacy Manager consistently exhibits best practices when working the bench, including quarterbacking the team, providing patients with meaningful counseling, and abiding by all legal and regulatory guidelines.
Responsibilities
Living our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
Overseeing the pharmacy team during bench shifts, coaching and following up to improve performance
Supporting safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and safety guardrails
Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and care, collaborating with the patient’s healthcare team, and resolving insurance and/or medication issues
Proactively offering and delivering immunizations and coaching Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize
Managing pharmacy inventory with a focus on protecting cold chain products
Conducting onboarding for technicians and pharmacists, including CVS workflow training and ensuring timely completion of required training and licensure
Ensuring operations comply with state Board of Pharmacy regulations; escalating issues as needed
Partnering with the Store Manager to maintain a healthy talent pipeline and ensure training for licensure
Overseeing Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists (where applicable); delivering annual performance reviews and addressing gaps
Maintaining a flexible schedule and contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic
Reviewing business reporting to develop action plans for workflow, service, patient care, and compliance improvements
Establishing a culture of safety, empowerment, and inclusion, welcoming feedback and taking appropriate action
Maintaining clinical and technical skills, pursuing required trainings and CMEs
Supporting access to care and patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical care where permissible
Understanding and complying with federal and state laws, regulations, and CVS Health policies; protecting patient privacy and ensuring a safe, inclusive workplace
Required Qualifications
Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located
Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacist
Essential Functions
Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
Attention and Focus:
Concentrate on a task over a period of time
Pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs
Verify prescription information and ensure label accuracy
Customer Service and Team Orientation:
Help people in a friendly manner
Understand patients’ reactions and respond appropriately
Communication Skills:
Use verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues
Active listening and thoughtful questioning
Mathematical Reasoning:
Calculate days’ supply, number of tablets, and bottles as needed
Problem Resolution:
Identify challenging interactions and determine best course of action
Physical Demands:
Be mobile and able to lift up to 20 lbs; stand for extended periods; perform tasks requiring fine motor skills
Team Management and Leadership:
Lead by example; delegate tasks; foster collaboration
Coach, provide feedback, discipline as needed
Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of the CVS Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader (PM-EL) program
3-5 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
Ability to work in the home store and across the market to meet business needs
Anticipated Weekly Hours 40
Time Type Full time
Pay Range The Typical Pay Range For This Role Is $65.00 - $82.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade. The actual base salary offer depends on experience, education, geography and other factors. This position is eligible for CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive programs in addition to base pay.
