Overview Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health is a 182‑bed treatment facility specializing in behavioral health and substance abuse services for youth, adults, and seniors. We offer a full continuum of care including inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs.

Responsibilities

Manage full unit operations, including interviewing, hiring, and termination processes.

Oversee staffing, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for psychiatric and chemically dependent patients on the designated unit.

Coordinate operational and programmatic management for the unit’s shift.

Support professional growth and development of nursing staff.

Plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; provide feedback, rewards, and discipline.

Address complaints and resolve problems as needed.

Requirements

Graduate of accredited nursing school – BSN preferred.

Minimum of three years experience as a registered nurse, including at least six months in psychiatric nursing.

Combination of education and experience may substitute for formal degree.

Certified in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or equivalent.

Experience

Experience working with mental health populations.

Knowledge of Medicaid enforcement policies a plus.

Customer service skills.

Proficiency with cardiac monitoring, AED, ECT, IV access, code blue response, nebulizer, suction machine, glucometer, etc.

Licensure & Certification

Registered Nurse license in the State of Florida.

CPR & ACLS certification.

Knowledge and Skills

Demonstrated leadership, communication, teaching, and management skills.

Competency in patient care practices, medication procedures, therapeutic boundaries, psychiatric diagnoses, infection control, safety protocols, risk management, and behavior management.

Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
