Overview
QC Tech schedules are identified below. QC Techs are hired into one of the schedules. Ensures the accuracy and quality of all product labeled, portioned, meal bagged, and shipped from Home Chef by working alongside production to conduct on-the-line checks of product against recipe specifications and quality standards. Founded in 2013, Home Chef is the leading meal solutions company with both a retail and online presence. Home Chef delivers ready-to-heat meals through Tempo and services customers online at homechef.com and in Kroger stores. This role is part of Home Chef’s quality control team, focused on labeling, portioning, meal bagging, shipping, receiving and related quality assurance activities. Responsibilities
Labeling: perform visual inspection during labeling to ensure correct product name and ingredients per QA sheets. Portioning: provide correct QC samples, supply proper measuring equipment, reinforce training on measurement, confirm portioned amounts with production leads, conduct final verification, and perform hourly inspections for accuracy. Meal Bagging: verify meal bag line setup, confirm ingredients and shelf life, ensure correct ingredient amounts, sign off on production sheets, and inspect bags for accuracy. Shipping Line: verify line setup (meat, bags, recipe cards, box call outs), communicate errors to production, visually inspect protein quality, and follow sanitation procedures for proteins as needed. Receiving/Outbound Transfers: complete QC inspections of inbound/outbound ingredients and escalate quality or food safety issues to FSQA leadership. Final Box Verification: remove boxes, complete final verification forms, document issues, provide feedback to the shipping line supervisor, and ensure boxes are ready for shipping. Post-op Clean up: collect and organize utensils for the next shift, store QA sheets and materials appropriately. Equipment Setup and Maintenance: set up portion fillers and verify scales used in portioning. Issue Escalation: promptly notify FSQA leadership when quality issues arise (e.g., produce quality, portioning quantity, missing ingredients). General Responsibilities: follow GMPs and support SQF and quality programs. Attitude and Attendance: arrive on time, communicate professionally, treat colleagues with respect, and work as a team with production. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required Previous experience in food quality is preferred Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation Must be able to stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours Perks and Benefits
