Under the supervision of the Chief Engineer I or Correctional Plant Supervisor, the Stationary Engineer performs skilled work in operating, maintaining, and repairing boiler, heating, air conditioning, ventilation, lighting, power, water, water treatment, and other mechanical systems in a large facility. May supervise incarcerated workers and other staff. Supervising incarcerated persons includes monitoring work and performance according to institutional policy. The primary work location is the institutional Boiler House, with possible dispatch as needed. All relevant work experience, skills, and qualifications must be listed on the STD. 678. Duty Statement . Working Conditions California Correctional Institution is located in the Tehachapi Mountains, approximately 325 miles south of Sacramento and 120 miles north of Los Angeles.
