CHILD AND YOUTH PROGRAM ASSISTANT (TARGET LEVEL):
The incumbent will serve as a CYPA in one or more child and youth programs and will be accountable for the whereabouts and safety of children and youth. Provides care/supervision, oversight and accountability for program participants. Assists in preparing age-appropriate activities; supervises children and youth during indoor and outdoor activities, on field trips, outings and special events; arranges and serves snacks/meals. Executes work in accordance with policies and regulations. Coordinates and conducts activities for children/youth aged 6 weeks to 18 years. Creates an environment which welcomes participant interest and promotes positive interactions. Implements program options for children/youth with special requirements. Demonstrates, instructs, leads and facilitates planned and spontaneous program activities. Briefs staff, management, and parents on activities. Conducts inventory on equipment and supplies. CHILD AND YOUTH PROGRAM ASSISTANT (LEADER LEVEL):
Serve as team leader for program staff with responsibility for the operation and program in accordance with applicable regulation in one or more child and youth programs. Accountable for the whereabouts and safety of children and youth. Oversees arrival/departure of children/youth. Supervises children and youth 6 weeks to 18 years during daily schedule of activities. Plans, coordinates, and conducts activities based on observed needs; coordinates with trainer and supervisor to implement activities and special events; ensures safety and appropriate staffing. Maintains DoD certification and national accreditation standards. Provides care/supervision and accountability for program participants. Performs other related duties as assigned. This position requires satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with Air Force and DoD policy, and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation. Physical lifting requirement; favorable pre-employment physical is needed. Must be able to obtain and provide evidence of current immunizations, including annual influenza vaccination; must be free of all communicable diseases. Complete assigned training, including Food Handlers certification, within specified time from date of hire. Qualifications

Must possess one of the following: 18 months working in any childcare or youth program with DoD approved competency-training courses, including entry and intermediate levels. 18 months of experience plus one of the following credentials: Child Development Associate, military school age credential, or other nationally recognized youth development credential. 18 months of experience plus an associate degree (24 credit hours) in related content from an accredited college. Possession of credentials listed above (e.g., DoD credentials or equivalent). Bachelor’s degree or 120 semester hours with related content. CHILD AND YOUTH PROGRAM ASSISTANT (LEADER LEVEL):
Must possess one of the following: 24 months (2 years) of childcare or youth program experience with completed DoD competency training; completion of all required training for assistant level. 24 months experience plus associate degree or 60+ semester hours with related content. Possession of credentials as listed above. Bachelor’s degree or 120 semester hours with related content. Education
Some federal jobs allow education substitution. Foreign education may be used if credentials are proven equivalent to U.S. education. You must provide evidence of equivalence when applying. Additional information
