CNC Machinist / Manufacturing Engineer (Hybrid Role)

Overview
We are seeking a hands-on CNC Machinist / Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This is not a pure machinist role. About 70% of time will be machining parts, building tools, and making fixtures; the remaining 30% will focus on design for manufacturability, programming, and supporting broader engineering/manufacturing efforts. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment where workloads vary month to month and enjoys moving between CAD/CAM work and running machines on the floor. Responsibilities
Program, set up, and operate CNC equipment, including: CNC lathes CNC 3-axis mills CNC 5-axis mills (preferred) Use Fusion 360 CAM to generate toolpaths and optimize machining strategies Design and fabricate tools, jigs, and fixtures to support machining and assembly processes Fabricate and assemble precision components, subassemblies, and prototypes to support R&D and production Interpret engineering drawings and CAD models to produce precision components Collaborate with engineers to improve designs for manufacturability and assembly Support light R&D and prototyping during lower machining demand periods Maintain equipment, manage tooling, and keep a clean, safe shop environment Qualifications
10+ years of CNC machining experience; hybrid machinist/engineer background preferred Proficiency with Fusion 360 CAM required Experience designing and building fixtures, jigs, and custom tooling Skilled in both lathe and mill operation; 5-axis mill experience highly desirable Strong blueprint reading, GD&T, and measurement/inspection skills Comfort with varying workloads - flexible to switch between heavy machining and lighter engineering/R&D support Self-starter, hands-on, collaborative, and comfortable in a small, fast-moving company Why Join Verterra
