Washington Veterans Home Deliver skilled, compassionate care to residents at the Washington Veterans Home. This position is full-time, day shift for a Nursing Assistant Certified. As a

Nursing Assistant Certified , you will assist in the delivery of nursing and nursing-related care to residents in accordance with current standards of practice. This is a non-permanent position with an expected duration of less than six (6) months. The expected shift is 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with rotating days off. Updated as of July 1, 2025: This position is eligible for Supplement Basic Shift Premium for 24/7 Facilities. The premium is $1.00 per hour for each hour of basic shift premium, limited to on-location duties, and expires June 29, 2027. Responsibilities

Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, hygiene care, toileting, eating, and monitoring/feeding of meals and nourishments.

Assist with range of motion exercises, infection control, and observe for changes in resident condition; report to licensed personnel.

Accurately obtain and record vital signs and other resident data.

Document intake and output records.

Perform basic nursing procedures (e.g., applying anti-embolism stockings, applying creams or lotion to intact skin).

Dispose of contaminated waste appropriately.

Maintain a safe, sanitary, and harmonious environment.

Clean bedpans, washbasins, urinals, commodes, beds, night stands, and over-bed tables.

And other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications

High school graduation or GED equivalent.

Valid Washington state license to practice as a nursing assistant certified.

Six (6) months of experience involving customer service in a healthcare setting or six (6) months of experience involving direct patient care. A combination of education and experience may be considered on a year-for-year basis.

Ability to provide a positive living environment, follow directions, document and report changes in patient condition and behavior, maintain resident confidentiality, and read/write/speak English.

Preferred

Long-term care experience.

Special requirements

Pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check prior to beginning services and every two years per WDVA policy.

Comply with annual Tuberculin Screening as per policy.

Must wear required PPE and be able to use respirators as required by safety standards.

Lift up to 60 lbs and reach heights as needed; able to walk, sit, and bend throughout the workday.

Remain current on the OBRA Registry and maintain a valid NAC license with the Washington State Dept. of Health; remain current in CPR.

Maintain regular and reliable attendance and complete required trainings.

Possess travel eligibility if required (valid driver’s license and insurance for state business).
