This opportunity is not guaranteed and is dependent on selection criteria. Updated as of July 1, 2025: This position is eligible for Supplement Basic Shift Premium for 24/7 Facilities. Employees assigned to facilities providing direct care to residents receive an additional one dollar ($1.00) per hour of supplemental basic shift premium for each hour of basic shift premium. This shift premium does not apply to overtime hours. The supplemental premium expires on June 29, 2027. Please Note:
The expected shift for this position is 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with rotating days off. About the Organization

These locations provide Medicare and Medicaid nursing home care to Veterans and, in some cases, their spouses, widows, or Gold Star Families. Role and Responsibilities
As a Nursing Assistant Certified, you will assist in the delivery of nursing and related care to residents in accordance with current standards of practice. Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, hygiene care, toileting, eating, and assisting with monitoring/feeding of meals and nourishments. Assist with range of motion exercises, infection control, and observe/report changes in resident condition to licensed personnel. Accurately obtain and record vital signs and other resident data. Document intake and output records. Perform basic nursing procedures (e.g., applying anti-embolism stockings, applying creams or lotions to intact skin). Dispose of contaminated waste properly. Maintain a safe, sanitary, and harmonious environment. Clean bedpans, washbasins, urinals, commodes, beds, nightstands, and over-bed tables. And other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Required: A combination of education and experience may be considered on a year-for-year basis; experience must be relevant to the position. High school diploma or GED equivalent. Valid Washington state license as a Nursing Assistant Certified. Six (6) months of experience in customer service in a healthcare setting or six (6) months of experience involving direct patient care. Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking). Preferred/Desired: Long-term care experience. Special Requirements
Pass DSHS BCCU Background Check prior to starting and every two years per WDVA Policy 615.000. Annual Tuberculin Screening as per policy 670.000 Tuberculosis Testing. Respiratory protection training and equipment as required; ability to wear respirator and PPE. Lift up to 60 lbs; capable of reaching, stocking, and moving supplies; ability to walk, sit, and bend during shift. OBRA Registry current; NAC license valid with Washington State Dept. of Health; CPR current. Regular and reliable attendance; ability to work as needed and complete mandatory trainings. Familiarity with DVA policies/Collective Bargaining Agreements; confidentiality agreement. Valid unrestricted driver's license and insurer if using a privately owned vehicle for state business. Must have work authorization that does not require employer sponsorship now or in the future. Application Process
