Overview
Transmission Line Engineer opportunity with a client located north of the Tampa, FL area. This role contributes to power transmission projects, including renewable energy interconnections and grid modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with
PLS-CADD
(minimum 3 years of professional experience) and a passion for high-voltage transmission line design. The position provides technical support, project leadership, and design expertise to ensure safe, cost-effective, and high-quality engineering solutions. Salary will be commensurate with experience and credentials. Relocation assistance is available. Lutz, Florida . Job type: Permanent. Salary: $90,000 - $190,000 per year. Work hours: 8am to 4pm. Education: Bachelor\'s.
Responsibilities
Design and analyze high-voltage transmission lines (69kV and above) using PLS-CADD and related software.
Develop detailed drawings, bills of materials, and specifications to support project execution.
Collaborate with internal teams, utilities, and clients to ensure project objectives and timelines are met.
Provide technical guidance and problem-solving support for engineering challenges.
Participate in site visits to assess design feasibility, construction challenges, and quality control.
Requirements
Bachelor\'s degree in Civil, Structural, or Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 3 years of experience in transmission line design OR relevant industry experience combined with an internship with a utility or power industry client.
Proficiency in PLS-CADD for transmission line design (classroom experience alone is not sufficient).
Working knowledge of NESC, ASCE, IEEE, and other relevant industry standards.
