As an Examiner, you will be conducting Compensation & Pension (C&P) Examinations for Veterans applying for disability compensation from the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) in relation to their in-service injury claims. The role involves reviewing the claim, performing focused assessments of claimed injuries, reviewing medical records, and potentially rendering a medical opinion based on the record review and completed C&P exam. Charting from home may be required for this position. Each examiner plays a vital role in the overall experience of the Veteran by providing an exceptional examination experience that supports access to treatment when needed. These Medical Disability Examinations are crucial in the VA’s process for determining benefits for Veterans with service-connected health issues. Our clinical insights facilitate access to subspecialists and contribute to continuity of care for those who need it most. Clinical Examiners are guided through a web-based examination form in a proprietary online system to capture patient information throughout the examination process. Qualified candidates must hold an active license, be able to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, and be adaptable to changing situations. Basic computer skills are required for this role. Note:

This position does not involve prescribing or treatment planning. Responsibilities

Conduct Comprehensive Medical Disability Examinations: perform thorough and focused medical evaluations of Veterans, including reviewing medical history, conducting physical examinations, and assessing the impact of disabilities on daily life and functional abilities. 10% travel is required to include other Loyal Source Clinic locations. Review and Analyze Medical Records: assess medical records, diagnostic test results, and other documentation to understand the Veteran’s medical history and health condition. Render Objective Medical Opinions: provide unbiased and evidence-based opinions regarding the extent of health issues and their impact on work and daily activities. Case Management and Documentation: manage workload, submit examination findings, and correspond with the Quality Assurance Team. Collaborate with Healthcare Professionals: coordinate with other healthcare professionals, specialists, and experts as needed to obtain additional information. Document Examination Findings: accurately record findings in medical opinions and reports following VA guidelines and contractual obligations. Cross-Functional Collaboration: work with Loyal Source departments to meet deadlines and optimize performance. Time Management and Scheduling: manage availability and scheduling for all C&P exams; ensure timely submissions. Compliance and Quality: adhere to laws, regulations, and standards related to disability examinations; ensure accuracy, fairness, and quality. QA and VA Training: collaborate with QA to submit thorough examination findings and maintain VA training requirements; stay updated on VA MDE program requirements. Confidentiality and HIPAA: safeguard patient information in accordance with privacy and security protocols; annual HIPAA compliance assessment is required. Qualifications

Education and Licensing: Graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant program. Valid and unrestricted PA license in the United States (50 States, DC, or territories) with no bar to practice. Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience as a Physician Assistant; prior experience conducting medical disability examinations or related field is preferred. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, including renewals. Military Experience: Previous military experience or familiarity with military or veteran communities preferred. Training: Completion of specialized training or continuing education in Medical Disability Evaluations or occupational health is advantageous. Clinical Skills: Proficiency in conducting comprehensive medical assessments, interpreting diagnostic tests, and formulating evidence-based medical opinions. Soft Skills: Empathy, communication, ethics, objectivity, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and in a team. Other: Authorized to work in the United States and able to meet federal contractor requirements. Additional Information

Travel: 10% travel required to support other clinics; additional travel for training or events. Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm; holidays clinics are closed. Compensation: Base salary plus monthly incentive = approximately $138,195 – $168,188 per year.
