This position involves coordinating and performing administrative, registration, and financial support duties within the department. The role requires good judgment to interpret policies, resolve routine inquiries, and identify process improvements. Responsibilities include:
Providing receptionist, secretarial, or Health Unit Coordinator support following department protocols.
Handling administrative activities supporting unit operations, responding tactfully to patients and families, and maintaining confidentiality per HIPAA policies.
Performing patient registration, verifying insurance, collecting co-payments, and updating patient information in the system.
Scheduling appointments, including pre-registration and coordination with other hospital areas.
Managing front office duties such as check-in, check-out, and answering calls.
Verifying insurance plans, investigating coverage, and referring patients to financial counseling if needed.
Demonstrating cultural sensitivity and supporting the organization's mission through professional behavior.
Qualifications include:
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
3-5 years of customer service experience required; healthcare experience preferred.
Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, ADT, and insurance verification systems (EPIC preferred).
Excellent communication skills and ability to handle a fast-paced environment.
