Part-Time, Days. Pay range: $49.72 - $74.58. Foot Care Nurses Certification through AFCNA is required.

Position Summary The RN Wound and Foot Care provides quality patient and family centered care as a member of the health care team in accordance with St. Charles Health System’s mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures. Applies standards for professional nursing practice and focuses clinical care to enhance the experience for patients, families, and all others. As a nurse this position will oversee the work of other caregivers providing specific care to assigned patient(s) throughout the shift, as required under the scope of the RN licensure. This position does not directly manage any other caregivers.

Essential Functions and Duties

Maintains and demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of nursing principles, practices, standards, and techniques and applies this knowledge in accordance with SCHS policies and applicable law.

Provides wound and ostomy care for patients per direction of the certified wound and ostomy nurse, including wound care assessment, implementation of wound care interventions, communication and collaboration with the care team, and support organizational education activities promoting wound healing and preventing skin breakdown.

Assesses the patient’s condition and needs using critical thinking and clinical judgment; sets outcomes; implements nursing actions and collaborates with disciplines to meet physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and intellectual needs; evaluates progress.

Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients and guests.

Supports department goals through participation in quality improvement and departmental activities.

Participates in professional growth and development of self and others; communicates effectively with caregivers, medical staff, patients, and guests.

Identifies work-related problems with possible solutions and implements solutions within scope of practice.

Manages the patient’s experience by clarifying, integrating, and coordinating the roles of the interdisciplinary team.

Performs stand-by call as assigned. Varies by department.

Supports the vision, mission and values of the organization; supports Lean principles of continuous improvement.

Maintains confidentiality and adheres to laws, regulations, policies and procedures; promotes ethical conduct and reporting of violations.

Delivers customer service and/or patient care in a timely and accurate manner.

May perform additional duties of similar complexity within the organization, as required or assigned.

Participates in creating a healing environment and intentional patient-caregiver relationships; provides therapeutic presence and effective communication with patients using appropriate introductions and engagement.

Calculates dosages and administers medications accurately in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.

Additional Job Duties

RN Certified Foot Care

— Responsible for wound and foot & nail care and oversight for patients referred to the Wound & Ostomy department, including assessment and interventions, physician consultations, and education activities promoting wound healing and foot and nail care.

RN Certified Wound Care

— Responsible for wound and ostomy care and oversight for patients referred to the Wound & Ostomy department; includes assessment, intervention, physician consultations, and education activities promoting wound healing and preventing skin breakdown.

RN Certified Wound Ostomy

— Responsible for wound and ostomy care and oversight for patients referred to the Wound & Ostomy department; includes ostomy consultations, stoma site markings, physician consultations, and education activities promoting wound healing and ostomy care.

Education

Required : As required by RN licensure.

Preferred : Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

Required : Current valid Oregon RN license; valid Oregon driver’s license and ability to meet driving requirements.

AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification.

Foot Care Nurses Certification through AFCNA is required for any nurse providing foot and nail care.

Preferred : Board Certified Wound Care or Ostomy Care Certification through ABWM or WOCNCB.

Experience

Required : One (1) year experience in an acute wound care setting.

Preferred : N/A

Personal Protective Equipment Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.

Additional Position Information

Skills:

Excellent communication skills, ability to interact with a diverse population, and professional representation of SCHS.

Proficiency with computer applications, including EMR and MS Office; strong teamwork and collaboration.

Ability to multi-task and work independently; attention to detail; strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.

Excellent organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
