Position Summary The Nurse Manager for Progressive Care is responsible for the clinical and administrative leadership of the nursing unit, ensuring high-quality patient care, staff engagement, and operational efficiency. The Nurse Manager serves as a role model for professional nursing practice, promotes shared decision-making, and leads initiatives to improve patient outcomes and staff performance in a fast-paced Progressive Care environment.
Key Responsibilities
Direct daily operations of the Progressive Care Unit.
Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to clinical staff.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, standards, and regulatory guidelines.
Develop and manage unit budget, staffing plans, and performance improvement projects.
Monitor and evaluate staff performance and clinical outcomes.
Support quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practices.
Serve as a liaison between staff, patients, families, and hospital leadership.
Lead and support change management efforts across the department.
Education Required: BSN or equivalent (ADN with MSN, or BA with MSN)
Preferred: Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN)
Licensure & Certifications
Current RN licensure with the North Carolina Board of Nursing OR compact eNLC license (must verify eligibility with NCBON).
BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
National Certification in specialty area or leadership within 1 year of accepting the role. If currently pursuing a nursing degree, certification must be obtained within 1 year of graduation.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years recent nursing experience.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical hospital experience with demonstrated leadership skills.
Previous leadership or management experience in a clinical setting.
