As a Clinical Pharmacist in Cardiology, you will coordinate and provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care for patients while actively participating in patient care rounds with medical staff. This role offers opportunities to cross-train in general inpatient services and in the IV room. Responsibilities include managing medication therapy for general cardiology patients, thoracic pre- and post-operative cardiac and vascular surgery patients, and heart and lung transplant recipients. The Cardiology department is a top-performing program offering leadership opportunities, teaching and residency involvement, and a collaborative environment that supports professional growth and advanced clinical practice. A caregiver in this role will work evening shifts from 11:00am to 7:30pm, 2:00pm to 10:30pm, or 1:30pm to 10:00pm. One holiday per year is required and there are no weekend requirements.

Responsibilities

Provide safe, efficient, patient-centered, evidence-based medication services Verify medication orders and/or dispense medications accurately according to state and federal regulations Document services in a complete, accurate, and timely manner Actively contribute to medication safety initiatives Ensure all pharmacy operations are in compliance with national accreditation standards Direct staff appropriately to provide safe and efficient care and maintain professional working relationships with all caregivers Educate and train students, residents, other caregivers and/or patients

Minimum qualifications

PharmD or Bachelor’s of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy Current State licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible for reciprocity in the current state within 90 days of hire For immunizations: current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross and completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in administration of immunizations or certification obtained within 90 days of hire For response to adult or pediatric cardiopulmonary arrest events: current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through AHA or Red Cross, or certification obtained within one year of hire

Preferred qualifications

Board Certification Completion of a Post-Graduate Year 1 Residency (PGY1), fellowship, or relevant post-graduate pharmacy experience PGY2 residency or relevant experience for Clinical Pharmacists hired in a specialized pharmacy practice area (e.g., Critical Care, Oncology)
