Our District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy, acting as a role model for all, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team. DSPs cover pharmacist scheduling gaps within the district under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager (PM) and Rx District Leader (DL) to support our pharmacy teams in stores throughout the district.
Responsibilities
Living our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
Traveling the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled; overseeing the pharmacy and serving as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts without overlap
Supporting safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following and directing the pharmacy team to follow workflow procedures and safety guardrails
Assuming Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist-on-duty
Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, coaching the team to provide compassionate care, and collaborating with the patient’s total healthcare team
Offering and delivering immunizations to keep patients healthy; supporting Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize
Managing pharmacy inventory with emphasis on protecting cold chain products and following inventory best practices
Remaining flexible for scheduling and business needs, while maintaining a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic
Maintaining clinical and technical skills and participating in required trainings and CMEs; seeking opportunities to expand knowledge to support patients
Supporting access to care and improving patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical care where permissible (e.g., testing and prescribing services such as COVID/Flu, Hormonal Contraception)
Understanding and complying with all applicable laws, regulations, standards, CVS Health policies, and patient privacy and security requirements
Required Qualifications
Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located
Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
Essential Functions
Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as needed
Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
Attention and Focus: concentrate on tasks; pivot quickly to meet patient and business needs; ensure prescription information and labeling accuracy
Customer Service and Team Orientation: proactively help patients and collaborate with the healthcare team
Communication Skills: clear verbal and written communication; active listening
Mathematical Reasoning: compute quantities, days’ supply, and related calculations
Problem Resolution: navigate difficult interactions and determine best actions
Physical Demands: mobility, lifting, reaching, typing, and routine manual tasks as described; close visual acuity for reading and computer work
Other tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager
Preferred Qualifications
1-2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting

Pay Range $60.00 - $74.00
This pay range is the base hourly rate or base annual salary for positions within this job grade. Actual offer depends on experience, education, geography, and other factors. This position may be eligible for CVS Health bonuses, commissions, or incentive programs.
