Assistant Professor of Computer Science Department: Computer Science, Gettysburg College, College, PA; Application Deadline: December 31, 2025; Start: August 2026; Position: Tenure-Track.

Job Summary The Department invites application for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Computer Science beginning August 2026. We seek candidates from all areas of computing, with particular emphasis on applicants whose research and teaching interests are in cloud computing, computer security, software engineering, or embedded systems. The successful candidate will teach core and elective computer science courses across all levels, contribute to the general curriculum, maintain an active research program, advise and mentor majors and first-year students, and contribute to departmental and college-wide governance. Standard teaching load is the equivalent of five courses per academic year with two or three course sections per semester.

Responsibilities

Teach core and elective courses across all levels of the Computer Science curriculum.

Maintain an active research program that is a major component of the scholarship of the College.

Advise and mentor undergraduate majors and first-year students.

Contribute to departmental and college-wide governance.

Develop inclusive teaching practices and innovative course development.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field from an accredited institution no later than the first year of appointment.

Demonstrated genuine interest in undergraduate teaching within the liberal arts setting.

Commitment to inclusion and advocating for diverse populations across campus life.

Preferred qualifications include expertise in emerging areas of computer science and ability to contribute to the breadth of the department’s curriculum through inclusive teaching and innovative course development.
