Overview
Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 5029) at GameStop. Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations, develops and promotes a sales culture, ensures products are easy to see and buy, builds guest loyalty, and supervises Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager. Responsibilities
Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly; respond to questions/concerns quickly and courteously; inform guests of promotions; recommend additional items; apply selling behaviors during every transaction; circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests over tasks. Support the total shopping environment, including visual/operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business. Process guest purchases/returns accurately using the POS system; ensure proper handling of cash and receipts and maintain high guest service. Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate. Promote GameStop guest benefits (e.g., new title reservations, trade-in program, Pro Rewards). Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates on policies and guidelines. Observe associate performance and provide timely feedback; address unsatisfactory performance as directed. Provide recognition and feedback to associates; document feedback in the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager. Ensure onboarding, training, and compliance for associates prior to opening/closing shifts; knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocol, and ethics. Assist in scheduling, supervise staffing to ensure optimal guest service, and adhere to scheduling guidelines. Approve payroll, manage time off, and verify pay for time worked. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are in proper working order. Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily. Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; monitor packages at closing as needed; report concerns to the Store Manager. Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete required administrative and operational duties. Conduct inventory counts, stock/restock merchandise, and ensure products are represented and organized on the sales floor. Count, balance, and reconcile daily transactions; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits according to guidelines. Verify shipments for discrepancies; conduct merchandise counts and report discrepancies to the Store/ District Manager. Process defectives/recalls promptly and ensure proper labeling and packing lists. Maintain associate and guest safety; report injuries per guidelines. Assist in maintaining store records/files; keep manuals up to date. Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the Store Manager’s absence. Adhere to all GameStop policies and procedures as outlined in the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct. Follow opening and closing procedures. Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred. Outgoing, welcoming personality with strong people skills. Provide genuine and individualized assistance to every guest. Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet objectives. Work independently and as part of a team; perform tasks timely. Meet performance expectations including attendance, safety, and respectful workplace. Operate POS system and basic mathematics; ability to alphabetize. Complete required paperwork and follow written or verbal instructions. Flexibility to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays (minimum 3 days/week). Remain reliable and trustworthy; exercise good judgment. Able to stand and move for extended periods; lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed. Ability to learn military ranks/insignia where applicable (stores on military bases). Compensation
