Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 0552) at GameStop. Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. Using elements of GameStop's buy, sell, trade, and reservation business model, the Circle of Life, the Assistant Store Manager develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest and providing outstanding guest service experiences through professional conduct and shared passion for gaming. You will be responsible for ensuring that products are easy to see and buy, building sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests, providing a clean, organized environment in which to shop, and growing guest loyalty and repeat business. This position supervises Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager. Responsibilities
Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly; respond to questions/concerns quickly and courteously; assist guests with meeting their video gaming needs; inform guests of promotions; recommend additional items; apply selling behaviors during every transaction; thank every guest; circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests over tasks. Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business. Process guest purchases/returns accurately using the POS system, including handling cash and providing receipts with top-notch service. Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager as needed. Promote GameStop guest benefits, such as the new title reservations program, trade-in program, and Pro Rewards loyalty program. Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates on policies, procedures, and guidelines. Observe associate performance and provide feedback to the Store Manager; address unsatisfactory performance as directed. Provide timely recognition and feedback to store associates and document performance in the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager. Ensure onboarding, training, and compliance training for associates prior to opening or closing shifts; ensure knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocol, and ethics. Schedule store associates to meet staffing and guest service goals; supervise staffing levels to ensure excellent guest service. Approve payroll, manage paid time off and time edits, and verify compensation accuracy. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per company guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment operate properly. Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily. Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention practices; conduct closing checks and communicate concerns to the Store Manager. Support selling goals and complete required administrative and operational duties. Perform inventory counts, stock/restock merchandise, and ensure products are represented and organized on the sales floor. Count, balance, and reconcile daily transaction totals; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits as required. Verify shipments for discrepancies and conduct inventories; report discrepancies to Store Manager/District Manager. Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls accurately; label boxes and include packing lists. Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety; report injuries per company guidelines. Maintain store records/files and ensure manuals are up to date. Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders when the Store Manager is absent. Adhere to GameStop policies and the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct. Adhere to opening and closing procedures. Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred. Outgoing and welcoming personality with strong people skills. Provide genuine, individualized assistance to every guest. Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills; English proficiency; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change. Work independently and as part of a team; perform tasks timely. Meet performance expectations related to attendance, appearance, safety, and respectful workplace. Operate the POS system. Basic mathematics and alphabetizing skills. Complete required paperwork accurately and follow instructions. Flexible schedule, including extended hours, nights, weekends, and some holidays (minimum 3 days/week). Handle pressure, be creative and a problem solver. Be reliable and trustworthy; exercise good judgment. Able to work alone; stand and move for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed. Working knowledge or ability to acquire understanding of military ranks for stores on military bases (where applicable).
