About the KIPP Colorado Teacher Role The Teacher is the instructional leader of their classroom and is directly responsible for driving student outcomes and creating an exceptional student experience. Teachers drive the educational mission of KIPP Colorado schools by developing rigorous, engaging, affirming, grade-level and culturally-sustaining instruction that prepares students for multiple post-secondary opportunities and is aligned with our academic program. The Teacher plans instruction, organizes learning activities, internalizes and intellectually prepares for lessons, grades equitably and consistently, and implements with fidelity all accommodations and modifications for students’ IEPs, BIP’s, 504 Plans, ALPs, and MTSS interventions, supporting the individuality and multifaceted nature of all our students. The Teacher creates and cultivates a culturally responsive classroom community that is warm-demanding, upholds school-wide expectations, manages tier 1 behaviors, and contacts families proactively and responsively. The position is a 10-month academic position and is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position reports to a member of the school leadership team.

Role Responsibilities Professional Responsibilities

Read, internalize, and adhere to KIPP Colorado Policies and Procedures

Develop and grow your craft through coaching sessions and feedback
Be prepared for lessons, coaching, meetings, professional development, and communications
Meet professional obligations including deadlines and schedules
Utilize Google and Microsoft tools effectively
Maintain strong attendance and punctuality
Collaborate with colleagues and seek feedback for continuous improvement
Reflect on practice to meet professional development goals
Participate in professional development, grade level, and department meetings
Engage in school-wide and organizational professional development

Assist with student and staff recruitment and engagement
Travel to other campuses or events as required

Instructional Planning and Delivery
Develop standards-based instructional plans (unit plans, scope and sequences, week-at-a-glance, daily lesson plans)
Plan rigorous lessons aligned with school deadlines and internalization practices
Design and implement assessments aligned with objectives
Grade student work and provide feedback and support
Use high-quality instructional materials with fidelity and inform reteach cycles with data
Use data to drive instruction and monitor progress toward goals
Implement IEPs, 504 Plans, ALPs, BIPs, and MTSS interventions with fidelity
School Culture Alignment
Establish relationships with students and families based on trust and respect
Maximize instructional time with urgency
Maintain high expectations for academics and behavior
Establish and reinforce rules to maintain a positive classroom
Additional Responsibilities
Provide active presence and supervision to ensure safety and engagement
Complete specialized certification requirements (MLE, literacy modules, ECE licensure, ESSA status)
Collaborate with Special Services for 504s, BIPs, IEPs, safety plans, accommodations and language support
Enforce positive behavior systems and monitor data
Attend school functions outside of hours as needed
Perform support duties (bus, lunch, dismissal) and chaperone field trips
Develop strong relationships with families through home visits and communications
Maintain records, grade books, and data tracking systems

Bachelor’s degree (required)
Spanish bilingual (preferred)
Ability to fulfill ESSA criteria (required)
At least 2 years of teaching experience (highly preferred)

Starting salary at $60,015, commensurate with experience
