The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is seeking full-time Correctional Officers at various levels statewide. This vacancy covers Correctional Officer I, II, and III with the new Step Pay Plan and competitive starting salaries along with potential bonuses. Base pay range

$37,621.00/yr - $54,078.00/yr Salary and benefits

Salary range provided by the State of North Carolina. Final pay based on skills and experience. Eligible for sign-on and referral bonuses: $3,000 sign-on; $1,000 referral bonus. Responsibilities

Ensure the care, custody, and control of offenders. Tour assigned areas and observe offender activity in person and on monitors. Identify offenders with behavioral, medical, or other problems and implement safety and security measures. Perform general security duties to prevent escape, disorder, rule infractions, and harm to offenders, visitors, and staff. Search offenders, visitors, cells, and other areas for weapons and contraband. Monitor and regulate offender and staff movement; maintain offender counts and cell assignments. Escort offenders within and outside the institution; use and maintain keys and equipment; supervise offender work details. Specific duties vary by post-assignment. Qualifications

Active Driver's License. Education: High School diploma or GED; see job postings for the necessary combination of education and experience. Experience: For Officer II and III levels, additional experience requirements per level (as described in the posting). Must be eligible for certification by the NC CJ Standards Commission. Must meet any additional state requirements and be able to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required. Work environment and schedule

This is a full-time position. Shifts may be rotating, fixed, or split, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime. Required documentation and application
