Correctional Officer (Eastern Region-NC) — State of North Carolina. This role is a full-time position with opportunities across Correctional Officer I, II, and III levels statewide within the NC Department of Adult Correction. Base pay range
$37,621.00/yr - $54,078.00/yr Salary and benefits
All hires are eligible for a $3,000 Sign on Bonus. Positions are eligible for an employee referral bonus program ($1,000). The department offers a Step Pay Plan with guaranteed annual increases based on experience. Details available from the recruiter. Responsibilities
Ensure the care, custody, and control of offenders. Tour assigned areas; observe offender activity in person and on monitors. Identify offenders with behavioral, medical, or other problems for appropriate safety and security actions. Perform general security duties to prevent escape, disorder, rule infractions, and harm to offenders, visitors, and staff. Search offenders, visitors, cells, and other areas for weapons and contraband. Monitor and regulate offender and staff movement. Maintain and record offender counts, cell assignments, and other pertinent information. Escort offenders within and outside the institution. Use and maintain keys and other equipment; supervise offender work details. Specific security duties vary by post-assignment. Qualifications and requirements
Active Driver's License required. Education and experience: Minimum education and experience for Correctional Officer I, II, and III include high school or GED and related experience as described in the notice; equivalency language may apply (see the posting for details). Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission. Work schedule: Full-time; ability to work any shift including rotating, fixed, or split shifts; may include days, nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime.
