Responsibilities
Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations.
Develop and promote a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest and providing outstanding guest service experiences.
Ensure products are easy to see and buy, build sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests, and grow guest loyalty and repeat business.
Supervise Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions/concerns quickly and courteously, inform guests of promotions, and promote loyalty programs.
Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
Process guest transactions accurately using POS, including returns, receipts, and correct changes.
Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.
Assist with setting guest service expectations, training, and ensuring associates are aligned with company and store guest service expectations.
Provide feedback to Store Manager, ensuring timely recognition and input into the HR system as needed.
Ensure onboarding and training for associates before opening/closing shifts and that staff are knowledgeable about policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, and ethics.
Schedule store associates following guidelines, manage breaks, and maintain staffing levels for optimal guest service.
Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify pay for time worked.
Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per company guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are in good working order.
Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily.
Protect company assets via inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages at closing if appropriate and report concerns to the Store Manager.
Support the store team in achieving sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties.
Perform inventory counts and restock merchandise, ensuring products are represented and organized on the sales floor.
Balance and reconcile daily transaction totals; manage cash and bank deposits according to guidelines.
Verify shipments for discrepancies, conduct inventories, and communicate findings to leadership.
Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls accurately; label boxes and packing lists.
Maintain associate and guest safety; report injuries per company guidelines.
Assist in keeping store records/files organized and up to date.
Adhere to all store policies and procedures, including opening/closing procedures.
Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
Video game knowledge preferred.

Provide genuine, individualized assistance to every guest.
Clear verbal and written communication; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment and work independently or in a team.

Operate the POS system and perform basic mathematics and alphabetizing.
Complete required paperwork and follow instructions in written or spoken form.
Flexible schedule, including extended hours, nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum 3 days/week availability.
Ability to work alone or move around the store for extended periods; physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform essential physical tasks.
Support knowledge of military ranks and insignia where applicable (stores on military bases).
