Overview Utilizes nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to provide comprehensive, age appropriate nursing care for low acuity assigned patients. Assists with shift supervision of nonprofessional personnel as necessary.

Unit: 6 Hall is a 16‑bed, general medical/surgical unit specializing in infectious diseases. Patients range from neonates to 18 years old. There are two special isolation rooms with ante‑rooms and ventilated airborne capabilities.

Common diagnoses include RSV, influenza, pneumonia, COVID‑19, gastroenteritis, febrile illness, and asthma exacerbation.

Responsibilities

Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a comprehensive, age‑appropriate plan of care for the low acuity patient and family which promotes optimal patient outcomes.

Meets the educational and informational needs of the low acuity patient and family, utilizing appropriate principles of teaching/learning.

Promotes safe, efficient, family‑centered care to low acuity patients.

Delegates nursing care based on knowledge of staff qualifications/competency and patient care requirements.

Qualifications

Associate’s Degree ADN Required. Current employees hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role. No experience necessary / On‑the‑Job Training.

Bachelor’s Degree Preferred for all nurses hired after September 1, 2013.

Licensed RN – Missouri or Kansas, registered nurse multistate license required upon hire.

Life‑Support Certifications required upon hire.

Specialty Certification relevant to unit’s patient population preferred.

Benefits Benefits plans are designed to meet the changing needs of employees and families. Pay range begins at $31.50/hr, competitive with market.

Eligibility The seasonal influenza vaccine is a condition of employment for all employees. New employees must be willing to be vaccinated for measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and varicella. Vaccination records will be required.
