Overview
We are seeking a highly capable Controller passionate about financial and operational performance, for this established Tempe, AZ dental laboratory. We are looking for someone who can be responsible for the company financials, manage the accounting operations, and take an active role in managing the company's costs structure and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and performance-driven, with the ability to analyze data, lead financial planning efforts, and implement improvements that support profitability and scale.
Responsibilities
Supervise and direct all day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping activities, including the oversight of internal or external support staff.
Produce and interpret financial statements, with a focus on using the income statement as a management tool to provide operational insights.
Identify inefficiencies in labor, materials, purchasing, pricing, and other key cost drivers.
Implement strategies to improve margins and performance.
Monitor job costing, pricing, vendor spend, and inventory accuracy.
Support executive leadership with data-driven analysis and recommendations to guide strategic decision-making.
Lead month-end and year-end close processes; ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years in a Controller or senior finance role, ideally in a manufacturing, or dental lab environment.
Demonstrated ability to lead financial functions while also engaging in operational improvement.
Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in QuickBooks and industry-relevant software systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Proven track record of driving financial discipline, cost reductions, and business performance improvements.
High integrity, professional presence, and the ability to work closely with ownership and cross-functional teams.

Compensation & Benefits We offer a compensation package designed to reward both financial discipline and operational impact:
Base Salary: $90,000 per year
Performance Bonus: Up to $30,000 annually, based on achievement of budget-driven KPIs tied to financial and operational performance
