Job Summary
Reporting to the Associate Clinical Director, the Clinical Staff Specialist in the Health Center performs clinical and administrative duties to support student access to health services on and off campus. The position requires a high degree of situational awareness, the ability to work independently, and the flexibility to step into wellness staff assistant (front desk) roles when needed.

Cell Coverage Details
Clinical Provider Schedules: Create master templates, manage and review daily appointment schedules, respond to time‑off requests.
Scanning/indexing quality assurance: Implement processes, generate special reports/queries from EMR or other sources.
Prior authorization: Pursue insurance authorization for medications, imaging and specialist referrals.
Referral process: Use the referral workplace to schedule appointments, ensure follow‑up occurs with students for missed appointments and referrals, delegate distribution of key information related to lab and radiology reports.
Inventory & Supply: Support monthly inventory process, order clinical supplies, prepare monthly procurement card statements.
Compliance & Credentialing: Track credentialing of clinical staff following NYS and AAAHC guidelines, coordinate AAAHC survey application every three years.
Front Desk Support: Maintain competency check‑in check‑out procedures, assist wellness staff assistant roles when needed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
2 years related experience working in a medical office setting.
Effective interpersonal, written, and electronic communications skills.
Knowledge of Deaf culture, American Sign Language (ASL), or willingness to learn.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships based on respect, empathy and honesty with diverse groups and individuals.
Ability to manage and maintain confidential and private information.
Computer competence using software and enterprise systems appropriate for the role.
Knowledge of electronic health records.
Microsoft Office fluency.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with NYS Immunization law.
Experience with referrals and prior authorizations.
Medical terminology knowledge.
Excel fluency.
