The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for all maintenance, management, and daily conditioning of the golf course, practice facilities, and surrounding grounds. This position requires a motivated, detail-oriented professional who takes pride in delivering outstanding playing conditions and who thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. The Superintendent will report directly to the General Manager/Owner and work closely with the Golf Professional Staff to ensure the best possible golf experience for members, daily-fee guests, and tournament players alike. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for a Superintendent or strong Assistant Superintendent looking to make a significant impact at one of Kentucky’s most highly regarded golf courses. Key Responsibilities
Course Conditioning & Agronomic Management Maintain all turf areas to championship standards, including greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and practice facilities. Develop and implement agronomic programs focused on turf health, playability, and aesthetics. Oversee fertility, pest management, irrigation, and cultural practices using sound scientific principles and budget discipline. Manage moisture and irrigation systems to optimize turf conditions and water use efficiency. Plan and execute seasonal maintenance programs such as aerification, topdressing, and overseeding. Leadership & Staff Development Hire, train, and manage a year-round and seasonal maintenance team. Foster a culture of teamwork, pride, safety, and professional growth among staff. Provide mentoring and leadership that promotes accountability, efficiency, and a positive work environment. Budgeting & Administration Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets in collaboration with ownership. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, chemical applications, and equipment care. Monitor and manage expenses to meet financial goals while protecting turf quality. Communication & Collaboration Communicate proactively with the General Manager, Golf Professional Staff, and ownership regarding course conditions, priorities, and upcoming projects. Participate in planning and executing tournaments, outings, and club events. Build strong relationships with members and guests through visibility and approachability on the golf course. Capital Projects & Equipment Management Oversee maintenance and efficient use of all turf equipment, including scheduling preventative maintenance. Play a key role in planning and executing future course improvement projects, including bunker and drainage enhancements.
