Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 2541) at GameStop. Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations and helps develop a sales culture by delivering outstanding guest service and professional gaming knowledge. Responsibilities
Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions/concerns promptly and courteously, inform guests of promotions, recommend additional items, and circulate throughout the store to prioritize guest needs. Support the shopping environment, including visual/operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business. Process guest purchases/returns accurately using the POS system, handle transactions, provide receipts, and maintain high guest service standards. Respond to guest comments or questions in person or by phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate. Promote GameStop guest benefits (e.g., new title reservations, trade-ins, Pro Rewards). Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates on policies and procedures. Monitor associate performance, provide feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed. Provide recognition and feedback to associates and document performance in the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager. Ensure onboarding, job training, and compliance training for associates prior to opening/closing shifts; maintain knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial, and ethical responsibilities. Schedule store associates to follow guidelines, manage breaks/meals, and maintain optimal staffing for guest service. Approve payroll, manage time off and time edits, and verify accurate compensation for all staff. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per company guidelines; ensure equipment is in working order. Fulfill Omni-Channel orders and ensure daily shipping. Protect assets through inventory controls and loss prevention; inspect packages at closing as needed and report concerns to the Store Manager. Support achieving sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties. Conduct stock counts, restock merchandise, and keep products organized and represented on the floor. Count, balance, and reconcile daily transaction totals; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits per guidelines. Verify shipments for discrepancies, conduct inventories, and communicate discrepancies to the Store Manager/District Manager. Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls with proper labeling and packing lists. Maintain associate and guest safety; address hazards and report injuries per guidelines. Maintain store records and ensure manuals are up to date. Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the Store Manager’s absence. Adhere to GameStop policies and the Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct. Follow opening and closing procedures. Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising or related field preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred. Outgoing, welcoming personality with strong people skills. Provide genuine, individualized assistance to every guest. Clear verbal and written communication; English proficiency; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet objectives. Work independently and in a team; manage tasks promptly. Adhere to attendance, personal appearance, safety, and respectful workplace standards. Operate POS system; basic math and alphabetizing skills. Complete required paperwork accurately; follow written or verbal instructions. Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays; minimum 3 days/week availability. Handle pressure, be creative, and problem-solve while maintaining guest interactions.
