Position: Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 0584) at GameStop, Ann Arbor, MI.
Responsibilities
Provide best-in-class guest service: promptly greet guests; respond to guest questions/concerns quickly, effectively, and courteously; assist guests with meeting their video gaming needs; inform guests of special promotions; recommend additional items as appropriate; apply all selling behaviors during every transaction and thank every guest for shopping at GameStop; prioritize guests over tasks and demonstrate that commitment by circulating throughout the store.
Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and the guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
Promptly and accurately process guest purchases/returns using the POS system; provide receipts and ensure top-notch guest service.
Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.
Promote GameStop’s guest benefits, e.g., new title reservations, trade-in program, and Pro Rewards loyalty program.
Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates on policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines.
Observe associate performance, provide feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance in alignment with company and store expectations.
Provide recognition and feedback to associates; document performance as required.
Ensure onboarding and training for store associates prior to shifts; understand store policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocol, and ethics.
Schedule store associates to meet staffing needs while following guidelines for breaks and meals; supervise to maintain optimum guest service.
Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify accurate compensation for time worked.
Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are functioning properly.
Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily.
Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; conduct final checks at closing and communicate concerns to the Store Manager.
Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals; perform required administrative and operational duties.
Conduct store inventory counts, restock merchandise, and keep products organized and alphabetized on the sales floor.
Count, balance, and reconcile daily transactions in the POS system; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits as required.
Verify shipments for discrepancies; record discrepancies and communicate with management.
Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls accurately; label boxes with packing lists.
Maintain associate and guest safety; report injuries per guidelines.
Maintain store records/files; ensure manuals are up to date.
Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
Video game knowledge preferred.
Key Skills and Abilities
Outgoing, welcoming personality with strong people skills.
Provide genuine assistance to every guest during every visit.
Clear verbal and written communication; English proficiency; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and independently or as part of a team.
Meet performance expectations, including attendance, appearance, safety, and respectful workplace.
Operate POS system and perform basic mathematics and alphabetizing.
Complete required paperwork and follow written or verbal instructions.
Flexible schedule including extended hours, nights, weekends, and some holidays (minimum 3 days/week).
Resilient under pressure; problem-solver with good judgment.
Ability to work alone and stand/move for extended periods; lift up to 30 lbs as needed.
Benefits and Compensation Compensation: $15.23 - $19.23 per hour. Full-time store positions may participate in incentive programs, 401(k), paid time off, dental, vision, and health insurance. Bonus and/or other incentives may apply.
