Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations.
Develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest and providing outstanding guest service experiences.
Ensure products are easy to see and buy, build sales by sharing product knowledge with guests, maintain a clean, organized store, and grow guest loyalty and repeat business.
Supervises Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
Responsibilities Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, answer questions, assist with gaming needs, inform guests of promotions, and thank guests for shopping.
Support the shopping environment, visual/operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
Process guest purchases/returns using the POS system accurately and efficiently.
Respond to guest comments or questions in person or by phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.
Promote GameStop benefits such as new title reservations, trade-in programs, and Pro Rewards.
Assist with setting guest service expectations and training of store associates on policies and guidelines.
Observe performance, provide feedback, and ensure associates align with guest service expectations.
Coordinate onboarding, job training, and compliance training prior to opening/closing shifts.
Assist with scheduling, staffing levels, and ensuring breaks/meals are accounted for.
Approve payroll changes and ensure accurate compensation for time worked.
Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment function properly.
Fulfill Omni-Channel orders and manage inventory control and loss prevention practices.
Support sales/profit/shrink goals and complete required administrative duties.
Perform inventory counts, stock/restock, and ensure products are represented and organized.
Balance and reconcile daily transactions; manage bank deposits as required.
Verify shipments for discrepancies; conduct inventories and communicate discrepancies to management.
Manage safety, incident reporting, and ensure records are maintained neatly.
Supervise and delegate tasks in the absence of the Store Manager.
Adhere to Company policies and procedures and opening/closing procedures.
Qualifications Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business/marketing/merchandising preferred.
Retail management experience preferred (6+ months); retail sales/guest service/management experience also preferred (2+ years).
Video game knowledge preferred.
Key Skills and Abilities Outgoing, welcoming personality with strong people skills.
Genuine, individualized guest assistance; clear verbal/written communication; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and both independently and in a team.
Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and some holidays (minimum 3 days/week).
Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 30 lbs, and perform physical tasks as required.
