Hamilton High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our wrestling program as an assistant coach. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in wrestling and a commitment to fostering a positive and competitive environment for student‑athletes. This position will assist the head coach in developing athletes’ skills, promoting teamwork, and ensuring a successful wrestling season.
Responsibilities
Assist the head coach in planning and conducting daily practices and training sessions.
Provide instruction and guidance to student‑athletes on wrestling techniques and strategies.
Help develop and implement conditioning programs to enhance athletes’ performance.
Monitor and evaluate athletes’ progress, providing constructive feedback and support.
Assist in preparing the team for competitions, including organizing travel and logistics.
Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, respect, and personal growth.
Communicate effectively with athletes and school administration regarding team activities and expectations.
Ensure the safety and well‑being of all athletes during practices and competitions.
Attend coaches’ meetings and collaborate with other coaching staff to enhance the overall program.
Requirements
Previous experience in wrestling, either as a competitor or coach, is preferred.
Strong understanding of wrestling techniques, rules, and strategies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with student‑athletes and their families.
Ability to motivate and inspire athletes to achieve their personal and team goals.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Must be available for afternoon and evening practices, as well as weekend competitions during the wrestling season.
CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
A commitment to upholding the values and mission of Hamilton High School’s athletics program.
Ability to pass a fingerprint‑based background check per board policy.
