Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. The Assistant Store Manager develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest and providing outstanding guest service experiences through professional conduct and shared passion for gaming. You will be responsible for ensuring that products are easy to see and buy, building sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests, providing a clean, organized environment in which to shop, and growing guest loyalty and repeat business. This position supervises Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager. Pay: $19.10 - $23.10 per hour.
Responsibilities
Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly; respond to questions/concerns quickly and courteously; assist guests with gaming needs; inform guests of promotions; recommend additional items; apply selling behaviors during every transaction; circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests over tasks. Support the shopping environment, visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business. Process guest purchases/returns accurately using the POS system, including handling changes, receipts, and ensuring quality guest service. Respond to guest questions in person or on the phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate. Promote GameStop guest benefits (e.g., reservations program, trade-in program, Pro Rewards). Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates on policies and procedures. Observe associate performance and provide feedback; address unsatisfactory performance as directed. Provide recognition and feedback to store associates; document feedback in the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager. Ensure onboarding, training, and compliance before opening or closing shifts; understand policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocol, and ethics. Schedule store associates to meet guidelines; supervise staffing to maintain guest service levels. Approve payroll and manage paid time off; verify time worked and pay accurately. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per guidelines; ensure equipment is in working order. Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily. Protect assets through inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages as needed and report concerns to the Store Manager. Support meeting/exceeding sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete required administrative duties. Conduct inventory counts and move stock to ensure products are represented and organized on the sales floor. Balance daily transactions; complete closeout paperwork and deposits; ensure sufficient cash and change for transactions. Verify shipments for discrepancies; conduct inventories and report discrepancies to management. Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls; label boxes with packing lists. Maintain awareness of guest and associate safety; report injuries per guidelines. Maintain store records/files; keep manuals up to date. Supervise and delegate tasks in the absence of the Store Manager. Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct. Adhere to opening/closing procedures.
Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, or management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred.

Clear verbal and written communication skills in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; work independently and as part of a team. Complete required paperwork; follow written, oral, or diagram instructions. Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum 3 days/week availability. Ability to manage pressure, be adaptable, and solve problems creatively. Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work alone; stand/move for extended periods; lift up to 30 lbs. Onboarding knowledge of company policies; military base store positions may require understanding of ranks and insignia.
