Responsibilities
Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions and concerns promptly and courteously, assist with gaming needs, inform guests of promotions, recommend additional items, apply selling behaviors during every transaction, and circulate through the store to prioritize guests over tasks. Support the shopping environment including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business. Process guest purchases/returns accurately using the POS system; handle changes, provide receipts, and ensure high-quality guest service. Respond to guest comments or questions in person or by phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager as needed. Promote GameStop guest benefits such as reservations, trade-ins, and Pro Rewards. Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates on policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines. Observe associate performance, provide feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed; ensure alignment with guest service expectations. Provide recognition and feedback to store associates; document performance in the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager. Ensure onboarding, job training, and compliance training are completed prior to opening/closing shifts; know policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocol, and ethics. Schedule store associates to follow guidelines, manage breaks, and maintain optimal staffing for guest service; supervise in the Store Manager’s absence. Approve payroll, manage PTO, and verify pay for time worked. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per company guidelines; ensure equipment is in good working order. Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily and support inventory control and loss prevention practices. Protect company assets, monitor packages/belongings at closing or shift end as appropriate, and report concerns to the Store Manager. Support sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete required administrative and operational duties. Perform inventory counts, restock merchandise, and ensure products are represented and organized on the sales floor. Count, balance, and reconcile daily POS totals; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits as required. Verify shipments for discrepancies, conduct merchandise counts, and communicate issues to management. Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls with proper labeling and packing lists. Maintain awareness of guest and associate safety; report injuries per guidelines. Maintain store records/files in an organized manner; keep manuals up to date. Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the Store Manager’s absence. Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook, Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct, and opening/closing procedures. Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred. Outgoing, welcoming personality with strong people skills. Genuine, individualized guest assistance on every visit. Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills; English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment and work independently or in a team. Meet performance expectations, including attendance, safety, and respectful workplace. Operate the POS system; basic math and alphabetizing skills. Complete required paperwork; follow written or oral instructions; execute financial tasks per policy. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and some holidays (minimum 3 days/week). Remain reliable, trustworthy, and able to work under pressure; capable of problem solving and adaptation. Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs; basic physical requirements.
