Responsibilities

Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. The role develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest and providing outstanding guest service experiences. Ensure products are easy to see and buy, build sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests, maintain a clean, organized environment, and grow guest loyalty and repeat business. Supervise Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager. Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions/concerns quickly and courteously, inform guests of promotions, recommend items, and thank guests for shopping at GameStop. Support the total shopping environment, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business. Process guest purchases/returns using the POS system accurately, including providing receipts and ensuring top-notch guest service. Respond to guest questions in person or by phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate. Promote GameStop\'s guest benefits (e.g., new title reservations, trade-in program, Pro Rewards). Assist with setting guest service expectations and training store associates in policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines. Monitor associate performance, provide feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed; ensure alignment with company and store guest service expectations. Provide recognition and feedback to associates; document feedback in the Workday/HR system in partnership with the Store Manager. Ensure onboarding, training, and compliance training for associates prior to opening or closing shifts; ensure knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, and ethical responsibilities. Schedule store associates to follow guidelines; manage staffing to maintain optimal guest service. Approve payroll, manage paid time off and time edits, and verify accurate compensation for time worked. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per company guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are in good working order. Fulfill Omni-Channel orders and ensure daily shipping. Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages at closing as appropriate and report concerns to the Store Manager. Support the store team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete required administrative and operational duties. Perform inventory counts, restock merchandise, and keep shelves organized and alphabetized. Count, balance, and reconcile daily transaction totals in the POS system; ensure closeout paperwork and bank deposits are completed accurately. Verify shipments for discrepancies, conduct counts/inventories, and report discrepancies to the Store Manager/District Manager. Process defectives/recalls, stock pulls, and label boxes with packing lists. Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety; address hazardous situations and report injuries as required. Assist in maintaining store records/files and ensure manuals are up to date. Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in absence of the Store Manager. Adhere to GameStop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct. Open and close procedures adherence. Qualifications

Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or accredited bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred. Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment and to work independently or as part of a team. Meet performance expectations including attendance, safety, and respectful workplace. Operate Point-of-Sale (POS) system; basic math and alphabetizing skills. Complete required paperwork and follow instructions; execute financial tasks in accordance with policy. Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum 3 days/week availability. Ability to handle pressure, be a problem solver, and maintain guest interactions. Reliable and trustworthy with good judgment; able to work alone; stand and move for long periods. Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform related movement. Pay: $19.10 - $23.10
