Schedule

Monday through Friday, 7:30am–5:30pm, 40 hrs/week, 12 months per year. Rotating shifts within 7:30am–5:30pm. Non‑exempt, regular full‑time.

Location

Dartmouth College Child Care Center, 21 Reservoir Road, Hanover, NH 03755. Onsite only.

Position Purpose

Lead teachers plan, organize, and implement curriculum to meet the care, developmental, and educational needs of children in the Center; guide behavior; communicate with parents; record developmental progress; supervise a teaching team of associate, assistant, student/temporary staff, and may supervise other employees.

Responsibilities

Plan and implement a comprehensive, child‑centered curriculum that supports physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth. Supervise and mentor teaching staff, including setting expectations, conducting performance evaluations, and providing professional development. Maintain an organized, safe, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning. Communicate regularly with families, sharing information about daily activities, responding to concerns, and scheduling conferences. Coordinate nutrition, health, and safety procedures, including meal preparation, first aid, and compliance with health policies. Collaborate with other classrooms on center‑wide activities, committees, and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

18 credits in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education from a regionally accredited college or university. Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, or bachelor’s degree preferred. Three plus years of experience in early childhood settings; three years as a lead teacher preferred. Effective communication, interpersonal, and parent‑interaction skills. Knowledge of children’s developmental needs and curriculum planning. Ability to supervise others and maintain a positive, inclusive environment. Physical capability to lift, carry, and supervise children with frequent movement. Completion of required training including universal precautions, water safety, and fire safety. Maintains pediatric First Aid/CPR certification. Maintains New Hampshire Early Childhood Credential.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Child and Family Studies from a regionally accredited college or university. Three years experience as a lead teacher.
