Responsibilities
Play a critical intellectual and technical role in the discovery and development of novel small molecule cancer therapeutics.
Independently design, conduct, and analyze experiments to advance our understanding of cancer biology and propel drug discovery programs across our oncology pipeline.
Execute pharmacology experiments (biochemical and cell-based assays) to assess the inhibition or activation of cell signaling in the oncology setting, including in response to small molecule inhibitors.
Conduct compound screening (including medium- and high-throughput studies) to identify leads and potential combination therapies.
Develop novel tools (such as genetically engineered cell lines) and assays as needed to support the group’s discovery mission.
Communicate your findings across seniority levels within and beyond BBOT.
Collaborate closely with colleagues across scientific functions and departments, providing key scientific expertise and guidance in an interdisciplinary environment.
Provide scientific and technical leadership to junior team members.
Keep complete and timely records in electronic lab notebooks.
Education and Qualifications
B.A./B.S. + 5 years’ experience or M.A./M.S. + 3 years’ experience.
Relevant prior research or industry experience in an oncology drug discovery setting.
Broad knowledge of cancer biology and independence in critical thinking and scientific achievement.
Experience with a broad range of cellular and biochemical techniques, including mammalian tumor cell culture and engineering, signaling and viability assays, CRISPR, RNAi, immuno-blotting, NGS, IF/IHC, and FACS.
Research experience in oncology drug discovery project teams, cancer cell-based assay design, and assay development is advantageous.
Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to continuous learning and development.
Ability to excel in a highly-collaborative and innovative environment.
Salary The annual salary range for this position is $122,000 - $130,000 in the San Francisco Bay Area. BBOT considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, skills, education, qualifications, and geographic location. Actual compensation will vary, and it is not typical to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.
Base compensation is part of a robust total rewards offering at BBOT. Additional total rewards elements include annual bonus, stock-based long-term incentives, medical, dental, and vision benefits, retirement, wellness stipend, and flexible time off.
