Responsibilities

Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. Develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest and providing outstanding guest service experiences through professional conduct and a shared passion for gaming. Ensure products are easy to see and buy; build sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests; provide a clean, organized environment to shop; grow guest loyalty and repeat business. Supervise Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager. Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions/concerns quickly and courteously; inform guests of promotions; recommend items as appropriate; apply selling behaviors during transactions; thank guests for shopping at GameStop. Support the shopping environment including visual/operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business. Process guest purchases/returns using POS system accurately and with top-notch guest service. Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate. Promote GameStop’s guest benefits (e.g., new title reservations, trade-in program, Pro Rewards). Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates on company policies and guidelines. Observe associate performance, provide timely feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed. Ensure onboarding, training, and compliance training for associates prior to opening/closing shifts; ensure familiarity with policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocol, and ethics. Schedule store associates within guidelines, manage breaks/meals, and maintain optimum staffing for guest service. Assist with payroll, time off, and ensuring proper compensation for time worked. Maintain store cleanliness and merchandising per guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are in proper working order. Fulfill Omni-Channel orders and drive efficient operations. Protect assets via inventory control and loss prevention; communicate concerns to the Store Manager. Support the store team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete required administrative duties. Count inventory, stock shelves, and ensure products are represented and organized on the sales floor. Balance and reconcile daily transaction totals; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits per guidelines. Verify shipments for discrepancies; conduct inventories and communicate variances to management. Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls; label boxes and packing lists appropriately. Maintain associate and guest safety and report injuries per guidelines. Maintain store records/files and ensure manuals are up to date. Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in absence of the Store Manager. Adhere to GameStop policies and procedures as outlined in the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct. Open and close procedures adherence. Qualifications

Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising or related field preferred. 6 months of retail management experience preferred; 2 years of retail sales/guest service/management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred. Key Job Skills and Abilities

Clear verbal and written communication skills; English required; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet objectives. Work independently and as part of a team; timely task completion. Attend to performance expectations, safety, and respectful workplace. Operate POS system; basic math and alphabetizing skills. Complete required paperwork properly and follow written or diagrammed instructions. Flexible schedule including extended hours, nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum 3 days/week availability. Manage pressure, be adaptable, and solve problems creatively. Reliable and trustworthy; exercise good judgment. Able to work alone and stand/move for extended periods; lift up to 30 lbs and reach heights as required.
