Overview

Personal Banker position in Caldwell, NJ. Apply in Caldwell, New Jersey. The role supports sales and service activities within the banking office, develops new business by educating clients, and demonstrates Valley's service standards. Provides banking solutions by analyzing needs, recommending solutions and selling bank products and services to existing and potential clients. Performs routine banking transactions (teller and platform) while supporting the Market Manager in delivering quality service and adhering to operational procedures.

Expected Work Hours

40 hours per week to include Saturdays.

Job Description

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Provide exceptional customer service in accordance with Valley's mission; engage customers with friendly, professional service.

Educate customers on all bank products and services and cross-sell as appropriate.

Present a confident, professional demeanor to establish trust; analyze needs and recommend appropriate products and services.

Meet with customers to analyze financial needs, maximize sales opportunities, open new accounts (checking, savings, CDs, IRAs), discuss/sell loan products, and promote online and mobile banking.

Meet customer expectations and service quality standards; participate in the sales referral process and assist management in coaching branch staff.

Perform transactions and use technology to serve customers efficiently; maintain and balance cash box; operate Teller Scanning Equipment, Cash Recycling and Cash Dispensing machines; assist customers with Coin Machines.

Act as Vault Teller to ensure branch cash adequacy; assist in ordering/shipping currency and distributing cash within limits.

Support community events and CRA initiatives; maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and Bank Code of Conduct.

Maintain knowledge of policies and procedures; report significant matters and unusual customer activity to the Manager.

Requirements

Required Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to demonstrate products and services to customers.

Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; attentiveness, tact, and diplomacy.

Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities to resolve issues.

Ability to make sound on-the-spot decisions balancing customer satisfaction and risk.

Ability to interpret varied instructions; strong understanding of Retail Banking and customer service.

Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and accuracy.

Ability to manage multiple projects; proficient computer skills.

Required Experience:

High School diploma or GED with at least 1 year of business services experience in branch banking or completion of Valley Retail training program.

Associates or Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, economics or related field preferred.

Preferred Experience:

FIS/IBS (Integrated Banking Solutions) experience preferred.

Job Details

Pay Range: $17.31 - $28.85 per hour. The actual pay rate depends on qualifications and experience. Pay ranges comply with applicable pay transparency regulations.
