Overview Kennesaw State University invites qualified applicants for an Instructor, Professional Certificate Programs - EKG Technician (Part-Time) to deliver quality, technically relevant instruction in EKG procedures as part of the CET exam preparation. Location Primary location: Kennesaw campus, 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Marietta campus: 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Department Specific Tasks and Responsibilities
Provides quality and technically relevant instruction in EKG procedures to help prepare students for the NHA Certified EKG Technician (CET) exam
Defining structure of the cardiovascular system
Defining medical terms and abbreviations related to cardiovascular system and electrocardiograms
Explaining basic EKG tracing, rate, rhythm, and abnormalities and administering electrocardiogram
Department Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must hold expert knowledge in medical lab procedures, cardiology, and medical terminology
Must be comfortable with teaching in classroom and on a distance learning platform
Job Summary Provides quality and technically relevant instruction in the assigned program. Follows departmental guidelines, policies, procedures and relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Provides quality and technically relevant instruction of course curriculum
Teaches students learning strategies
Conducts teaching and instructional activities using educational equipment, manipulatives, props, and other learning aids
Provides continual feedback and various methods of assessment measurement by ensuring student mastery of learning outcomes
Assesses and records grading for all homework assignments, quizzes, and tests
Completes paperwork associated with classroom and project management
Participates in marketing of courses to prospective students by providing technical information during biannual Open House events
Assists with course and/or program evaluation and continuous improvement and resolves quiz disputes when necessary
Maintains acceptable program quality and satisfaction scores
Keeps Program Manager informed of curriculum or student code of conduct issues
Records attendance in learning management system
Educational Requirements
Registered Nurse within the state of Georgia from an accredited institution of higher education, or
Licensed Practical Nurse within the state of Georgia from an accredited institution of higher education, or
CMA, RMA, or CCMA credentialed medical assistant, or
Certified EKG Technician
Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid and unrestricted Georgia Nurse (RN, LPN) licensure, CMA, RMA, or CCMA credentialed medical assistant, or Certified EKG Technician
Required Experience
Five (5) years of experience in a medical setting as an RN, LPN, credentialed medical assistant, or EKG technician
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Previous teaching experience
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time, meeting deadlines
Able to motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process
Able to review syllabus and learning outcomes the first night of class
Able to provide sufficient time for students to complete course evaluations
Do not release class early
Do not leave class unattended
Able to respond to student inquiries in a timely manner
Be familiar with all emergency procedures posted in the classroom
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication skills, time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs (Microsoft Office)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
