Experts of store process and efficiency who enable a consistent guest experience by ensuring product is set, in-stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise areas of the store. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise set-up and maintenance and pricing processes for all areas of the store. Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work. The Role Of a General Merchandise Expert Can provide You With The: Knowledge of guest service fundamentals and experience supporting a guest first culture across the store Experience in retail business fundamentals including: department sales trends, inventory replenishment, and process efficiency and improvement Experience executing daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals As a General Merchandise Expert, No Two Days Are Ever The Same, But a Typical Day Will Most Likely Include The Following Responsibilities: Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests as you complete your daily tasks When guests need assistance, engage with guests in a welcoming way to help solve their needs Thank guests and let them know we’re happy they chose to shop at Target Execute daily tasks assigned by your leader to help achieve goals aligned with business priorities including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas If certified, operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures Execute processes including changing prices to products, merchandise set-up and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed by your leader Learn how operational procedures affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability Be knowledgeable about resources, products, and services available in the total store to solve issues for the guest Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance Work in a safe manner at all times; comply with safety policies, report hazards and correct where possible Support guest services such as back-up cashier, and digital fulfillment processes (picking and packing orders or delivering pickup orders) while complying with laws All other duties based on business needs WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR You enjoy interacting and helping others — guests and team members You thrive in a fast-moving, active and physically demanding role where teamwork, flexibility, and problem solving are key You are open to a flexible schedule with varying hours, days or shifts (including nights, weekends, holidays and other peak times) The Good News Is That We Have Training To Help You Learn To Be a General Merchandise Expert. But There Are A Few Skills You Should Have From The Get-go: Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members Ability to communicate on multiple devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology Work both independently and with a team Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot Attention to detail and ability to follow multi-step processes Remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within timeframes We Also Expect the Following Basics: Accurately handle cash register operations as needed Climb ladders as required Scan, handle and move merchandise safely, including lifting up to 44 pounds Flexible schedule (nights, weekends, holidays) with reliable attendance Ability to work in varying temperatures and elements while performing duties Remain mobile for the duration of a shift Find competitive benefits from financial and education to well-being and beyond at Target’s benefits page.
