Wilmington, Delaware VA Medical Center
is seeking a full-time, board-certified/board-eligible Ophthalmologist to join the VA team. Pay:
Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off:
50-55 days per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays, and up to 5 days for CME) Retirement:
Federal pension (5-year vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% VA contributions Insurance:
Federal health, vision, dental, life, and long-term care (many can be retained into retirement) Licensure:
Unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME:
Up to $1,000/year reimbursement (full-time, board-certified) Malpractice:
Free liability coverage with tail coverage Contract:
No employment contract or restrictions on moonlighting Duties include but are not limited to: Manage eye conditions including cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy Diagnose and treat diseases in ambulatory and inpatient settings Specialize in Cornea Supervise residents and manage patients efficiently Document in CPRS, participate in quality assurance and committees Provide comprehensive patient care including history, physicals, medication management, diagnostics, surgery Maintain electronic medical records and Joint Commission readiness Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (may vary based on facility needs) Requirements: U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens only if no qualified citizens are available Urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to employment Selective Service registration if applicable Proficiency in English Background/security clearance Complete online onboarding, pass pre-employment physical, and COVID-19 vaccination Qualifications: MD or equivalent from an accredited school Full, unrestricted medical license Completed residency in an approved program leading to board eligibility Proficiency in English Board certification or eligibility in Ophthalmology preferred Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 44 lbs, stand/walk for 8 hours, and perform necessary physical activities Education:
Degree from an accredited medical school; verification required for foreign graduates Seniority level
