Responsibilities
Provide best-in-class guest service: promptly greet guests; respond to guest questions/concerns quickly, effectively, and courteously; assist guests with meeting their video gaming needs; inform guests of special promotions; recommend additional items as appropriate; apply all selling behaviors during every transaction and thank every guest for shopping at GameStop; prioritize guests over tasks and demonstrate that commitment by circulating throughout the store. Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and the guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business. Promptly and accurately process guest purchases/return transactions using Point-of-Sale (POS) system; ensure correct changes, packaging, receipts, and top-notch guest service. Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; escalate customer issues and complaints to the Store Manager when appropriate. Promote GameStop’s guest benefits such as new title reservations, trade-in program, and Pro Rewards loyalty program. Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations for store associates and training staff in company policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines. Observe associate performance, provide feedback to the Store Manager, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed, ensuring alignment with guest service expectations. Provide recognition and feedback to store associates; input written feedback into Workday/HR system in partnership with the Store Manager. Ensure associates complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training prior to opening or closing a shift; maintain knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, and safety. Schedule store associates following guidelines, manage breaks and meals, and supervise staffing to ensure optimal guest service. Approve payroll and manage paid time off; verify pay for time worked. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment function properly. Ensure Omni-Channel orders are fulfilled and shipped daily. Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; communicate concerns to the Store Manager. Support the store team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete required administrative duties. Perform inventory counts and restock merchandise; ensure products are represented and alphabetized. Balance daily transactions in POS; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits as required. Verify shipments for discrepancies; conduct inventories and report discrepancies to management. Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls; label boxes and include packing lists. Maintain safety awareness; report injuries per guidelines. Assist in maintaining store records/files; ensure manuals are up to date. Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in absence of Store Manager. Adhere to GameStop policies and the associate handbook; follow opening/closing procedures. Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred. Outgoing and welcoming personality with strong people skills. Provide genuine and individualized assistance to every guest. Clear verbal and written communication; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and work independently or in a team. Meet performance expectations including attendance, appearance, safety, and respectful workplace. Operate POS system; basic math and alphabetizing skills. Complete required paperwork; follow written or verbal instructions. Possess or acquire during employment an understanding of military ranks/insignia for stores on military bases (where applicable). Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum of 3 days/week availability. Ability to handle pressure, solve problems, and maintain guest relations; be reliable and trustworthy. Ability to stand, move, and lift up to 30 lbs; ability to perform physical tasks as required.
