POSITION SUMMARY
Sells products for MATHESON to business and industrial establishments or individuals at sales office, store, showroom, or customer's place of business by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Compile lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet websites, and other sources.
Travel throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders, or talk with customers on sales floor or by phone.
Display or demonstrate products, using samples or catalogs, and emphasize salable features.
Quote prices and credit terms, and prepare sales contracts for orders obtained.
Estimate delivery dates based on knowledge of firm’s production and delivery schedules.
Prepare reports of business transactions and keep expense accounts.
Collaborate with inside sales and route sales representatives to keep account activities and literature up to date.
Coordinate customer training.
Enter new customer data and sales data into the computer database.
Develop and maintain relationships with purchasing contacts.
Investigate and resolve customer problems related to welding processes, equipment, and deliveries.
Attend trade shows.
Perform inside sales when needed.
Assist with semi-annual inventories.
Support co-workers and customers with technical welding questions.
Assist in collecting outstanding account balances.
Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
HOURS OF WORK Typical hours are Monday through Friday, matching customer needs. This is a full-time position.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily; reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
Language skills: Ability to read and interpret safety rules, instructions, manuals; write routine reports; speak effectively before groups.
Mathematical skills: Ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, and apply basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning ability: Solve practical problems, interpret instructions in various forms.
Certificates/licenses: Valid Driver's License, Hazardous materials training and certification.
Education/Experience: Associate's degree in Welding Technology or related field, with 6 months to 1 year of related experience, or equivalent combination.
