Overview

This role comes with a $5,000 signing bonus. This is a pending placement role. A campus will be assigned once hired, and placement could be at any of our campuses based on student need. About the KIPP Colorado Special Education Teacher Role: The Special Education Teacher is the instructional leader of their student caseload and is directly responsible for driving student outcomes and creating an exceptional student experience. Teachers develop daily instruction aligned with our academic program to support significant academic growth each year. The Special Education Teacher plans instruction, organizes learning activities, internalizes and prepares for lessons, grades equitably and consistently, and implements with fidelity all accommodations and modifications for students’ IEPs, BIP’s, 504 Plans, and MTSS interventions. The teacher fosters a culturally responsive classroom community, upholds school-wide expectations, and actively contacts families. The position is a 10-month academic role and exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position reports to a member of the school leadership team. Professional Responsibilities

Special Education Responsibilities

Develop, monitor, and evaluate the effectiveness of special education programs; maintain IEPs, 504s, evaluations, and ELL programs with fidelity; liaise with parents; provide case management and instruction for students receiving special education supports; ensure accurate completion of IEPs, BIPs, and FBAs; ensure students receive minutes, accommodations, and modifications in collaboration with general education teachers; support classroom teachers in understanding student support plans. Instructional Planning and Delivery

Develop standards-based unit plans and daily lesson plans; design and deliver rigorous, backwards-planned lessons; design and implement assessments aligned with objectives; provide feedback on student work; plan rigorous lessons focused on internalization; use the adopted curriculum with fidelity; use data to adjust plans to meet student needs. Align with KIPP Colorado’s mission; build relationships with students and families; maximize instructional time; maintain high expectations for academic work and behavior; establish clear rules and consequences; meet professional obligations. Additional Responsibilities

Participate in presence and supervision for safety; complete MLE coursework and certifications; collaborate with leadership to implement 504s, BIPs, IEPs, safety plans, accommodations; enforce positive behavior systems; attend school functions outside hours; perform support duties such as bus, lunch, dismissal, chaperoning; build relationships with families through home visits and calls; communicate progress and be accessible for emergencies; participate in daily duties to support operations; maintain accurate records and data tracking; assist with recruitment. Role Level and Qualifications

Required

Bachelor’s degree; Special Education License or TEE through CDE; ability and willingness to meet ESSA criteria; at least 2 years of teaching experience (highly preferred); ability to work after-hours and weekend events; commitment to an Exceptional Student Experience. Preferred

Spanish bilingual; strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills; ability to manage multiple priorities; proactive problem-solving; entrepreneurial mindset; high attention to detail; ability to work in a fast-paced environment; strong interpersonal skills; passion for KIPP Colorado mission. Compensation and Benefits

Competitive market salary starting at $65,015, commensurate with experience; no cap on years of experience.
