CDOC HVAC Supervisor Trainee (Correctional Officer I) - Buena Vista Join the Colorado Department of Corrections to train as a HVAC Supervisor Trainee as a Correctional Officer I in Buena Vista.

Overview The HVAC Supervisor Trainee Program provides on‑the‑job training in correctional facility HVAC operations while maintaining safety and security. Successful completion may lead to a CSTS I position.

Responsibilities

Perform hands‑on instruction and supervision of inmate work crews on HVAC projects.

Diagnose, repair, and maintain HVAC and refrigeration equipment.

Coordinate logistics with other trades and shops.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for refrigerant handling.

Monitor safety, security, and inmate behavior during work activities.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

Minimum of 2 years experience in HVAC maintenance or light building construction.

EPA 608 Certification (Type II, III, or Universal) within one year of promotion to CSTS I.

Valid, unrestricted Colorado driver’s license.

Strong work ethic, integrity, and dependability.

Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.

Required Competencies

Proficiency in HVAC operations and preventive maintenance.

Ability to monitor and track inventory and maintenance schedules.

Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork.

Self‑control and ability to work in stressful situations.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in HVAC installation, repair, and maintenance of building/facility systems.

Experience in light building construction and preventive maintenance trades.

EPA 608 Certification (Type II, III, or Universal).

Location Buena Vista Correctional Complex, Buena Vista, CO.
