The Speech and Language Pathologist assumes primary responsibility for providing services for children needing evaluation and/or remediation for speech and language deficits. Bilingual therapy is provided in Spanish and English as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities
Implement treatment plans as part of therapeutic intervention in the area of speech and language development. Utilize standardized tests as well as clinical observations to assess students’ strengths and deficits and prepares written evaluation reports as part of the intake process. Develop IEP goals and objectives for students evaluated in the intake process. Provide consultation to classroom staff in the area of speech and language. Review and report on student progress. Participate actively as a member of the school’s interdisciplinary therapeutic team, attends regularly scheduled staff and team meetings. Perform audiometric screenings as needed. Education & Experience
New York State Speech Pathology License. New York State Certification as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped. New York State Bilingual Extension Certificate (for Bilingual Therapists). Experience with language impaired children. Physical Requirements
Able to provide physical “hands-on” intervention when necessary.
