$26.83 per hour plus full health and welfare benefits (fringe value of $4.93/hr.) GC Associates requires a Medical Support Assistant to provide Registration Clerk Services for the Makalapa Clinic, HI. Responsibilities

Review, analyze, abstract and compile or extract medical records data. Use varied and advanced functions of basic office word processing and database automation software to support office operations and produce standardized documents such as reports, memos, and data-structured records. Update and enter data into CHCS, AHLTA, HAIMS, and other systems used by the command for electronic records; input data from Future Enrollment Report three times a week. Prepare written correspondence and reports with correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and formatting. Receive visitors and check in patients (approximately 50 per day) and answer telephone inquiries (approximately 50 per day) during normal clinic hours; determine the nature of requests and direct calls or people to appropriate staff, or provide information as needed. Utilize judgment to answer recurring questions within established policies and procedures. Copy and fax medical record documents to facilitate care plans and records requests; receive incoming mail and distribute to appropriate staff members. Generate new medical records (approximately 15 per day) for newborns and beneficiaries new to the Military System or requiring a new or replacement record; prepare labels, check into the record room, and distribute to records personnel to file by day end. File and organize loose paperwork and records by the end of the day. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with department personnel and customers using tact and courtesy. Refer telephone calls and visitors to appropriate staff or office; take and deliver messages for unavailable staff. Use proper protection and handling of critical medical information. Prepare and maintain established medical records and dispose/retire medical records/files in accordance with regulations and procedures. Skills and Knowledge Required

Education:

High School Graduate or GED. Experience:

Medical Support Assistant personnel must have a minimum of one year of general office experience, and a minimum of six months experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and database automation software functions. License/Certifications:

Must have an active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare Providers.
