Payment Posting Specialist
SALARY:
$22.70 - $23.38 per hour DOE
REPORTS TO:
Revenue Cycle Supervisor
LOCATION:
Nespelem Health Center, 6 months training in Nespelem, WA; possibility of working in other districts upon completion of training.
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
This is a Non-Exempt position. This position will implement the standards and procedures of the Medical Billing Office through direct contact with eligible programs and assist in the implementation and maintenance of a centralized billing department.
Minimum Qualifications
Typically requires an Associate’s degree OR
Certificate from Medical Billing and Coding course of one year or longer (Transcript Required) with coursework in bookkeeping or accounting and computer-aided applications.
Requires 6 months’ work experience medical billing involving Medicare, Medicaid and Third Party payers with FQHC, IHS or Tribal programs specifically related to Accounts receivable management.
Requires a valid driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ vehicle insurance and maintain throughout employment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Requires working knowledge of the practices and terminology of bookkeeping, medical billing, and accounting data entry practices, accounting office clerical procedures and methods for maintaining source documentation files.
Requires working knowledge of medical billing code sets including ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS.
Requires knowledge of the scope of medical codes used by the Tribe.
Requires knowledge of cashiering, including knowledge of individual account cash control, receipt, disbursement, and allocations of funds.
Requires well‑developed computer skills, sufficient to use common office productivity software, specialized software for revenue accounting, spreadsheets, and databases.
Requires in-depth knowledge of financial transaction ordinances, policies, and procedures governing cash receipts, adjustments, and disbursements.
Requires sufficient writing skills to prepare basic business correspondence, pre‑formatted reports, and account footnotes.
Requires sufficient math skills to compute sums, quotients, products, ratios, percents, and portions.
Requires sufficient human relation skills to convey procedural information to others, train staff, and to deal effectively and positively with others on financial transactions.
Requires work experience demonstrating the ability to multitask and follow through to completion.
Requires work experience demonstrating the ability to meet strict deadlines while maintaining data integrity.
Requires work experience involving strict confidentiality requirements.
Requires the ability to learn or current working knowledge of Tribal reimbursement standards.
Requires the ability to be detail oriented.
Requires the ability to learn current Third Party billing regulations, policies and procedures including the use of modifiers.
Requires the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Requires the ability to interact cooperatively and professionally with others.
Requires the ability to analyze and effectively solve problems.
Requires the ability to maintain a complete set of records and reports consistent with defined requirements.
Requires the ability to interact with a wide range of contacts with courtesy and patience.
Requires the ability to maintain the confidentiality of customer records and information.
Requires the ability to perform all of the clerical and record‑keeping duties of the position including operation of computer software programs designed for medical billing customer‑focused accounting.
Requires the ability to work as a contributing member of a team, work productively and cooperatively with other teams and external customers, and convey a positive image of the Tribe and its services.
Requires the ability to work collaboratively with difficult customers.
Requires the ability to function primarily indoors in an office environment engaged in work primarily a sedentary nature.
Requires ambulatory ability to retrieve files and stand at a counter for customer service transactions.
Requires sufficient hand‑eye‑arm coordination to use a keyboard and 10‑key, arm/hand movements to retrieve work materials from storage files, and operate a variety of general office equipment.
Requires visual acuity to read computer screens, printed material, and detailed accounting information.
Requires auditory ability to carry on conversations over the phone and in person.
Must be able to demonstrate above‑average work attendance and work ethic.
Work is performed indoors where minimal safety considerations exist.

Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre‑employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post‑accident drug testing.
