Nursing Aide Certified (LGH D37 General Medical Unit, FT, 7p-7a) Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) works under the direction of a licensed professional nurse. Under the nurse’s supervision, CNAs provide patient care appropriate to the population served and meet daily routine patient care needs. They collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and deliver care as outlined by the nurse. The CNA maintains a safe patient environment, follows Centra’s best practices, and complies with Virginia regulations for Certified Nursing Aides.

Responsibilities

Provide and document patient care under the direction of the registered or licensed practical nurse, including assistance with activities of daily living such as meals, bathing, ambulating, toileting, and repositioning.

Check and record vital signs, and document intake and output.

Answer call lights and communicate patient needs and observations to nursing staff.

Contribute to a safe and efficient admission, transfer, and discharge process.

Maintain patient rights to comfort, privacy, and dignity during care.

Create and maintain a clean and safe environment on the unit and in patient rooms.

Follow organization policies and procedures while interacting with other caregivers.

Handle medication delivered by the pharmacy (directly or via pneumatic tube) and transport it to appropriate storage or to a qualified employee.

Apply unit service excellence best practices in interactions with patients, visitors, physicians, and colleagues.

Use resources cost effectively.

Participate in quality and performance‑improvement initiatives based on evidence‑based literature and unit metrics, ensuring regulatory and legal standards are met.

Practice Centra safety behaviors consistently.

Resolve conflicts in an appropriate, timely, and consistent manner.

Engage in professional development through self‑appraisal, academic credit acquisition, and attendance at educational programs.

Qualifications

Certified as a Nurse Aide by the Department of Health Professions of Virginia.

Completion of AHA BLS CPR certification.

At least 1 year of recent acute‑care experience.

Preferred Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

Clinical background within a Cardiology or Home‑Health setting (if applicable).

Experience in Hospice care (if applicable).

Additional Information

Travel expected to be 100 %.

Position requires a Clean VA Driver’s License if transportation is part of the role.
