Payroll Specialist
Location:
Newton, MA. Hybrid, on site two days a week.
Schedule:
Temp to potential perm | Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
Compensation:
$25-$40/hour (based on experience).
Overview
An established real estate management organization in Newton, MA is seeking a
Payroll Specialist
to join its corporate HR team. This is a hybrid role and is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll across multiple locations. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in payroll administration, compliance, and HR systems management.
Key Responsibilities
Process bi-weekly payroll including salaries, overtime, bonuses, and commissions
Ensure proper withholding and remittance of all federal, state, and local taxes
Maintain current and accurate employee payroll records, including compensation, deductions, and hours worked
Verify and reconcile employee timesheets; research and resolve discrepancies
Manage payroll data within HRIS platforms (UKG Ready / Centrally HR experience preferred)
Prepare payroll reports and assist with audits and compliance reviews
Reconcile payroll with the general ledger and assist with financial reporting
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll inquiries and W-2 support
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws as well as company policies
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Accounting, HR, or Business preferred
3-5 years of hands‑on payroll processing experience
Proficiency in HRIS/payroll systems (UKG Ready or similar platforms)
Advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, reporting)
In‑depth knowledge of payroll tax regulations and wage laws
Exceptional attention to detail, confidentiality, and organizational skills
Strong communication skills and a customer‑service‑oriented mindset
